Competition INFORMATION & GUIDELINES
General Information:
  • Members are welcome to submit a maxumum of three (3) recent photographic images in a monthly competition. Images must have been taken within the previous eighteen (18) months.
  • Competition fees are $.50 per entry to be paid at the competition meeting.
  • Members participating in competition must be present at the meeting.
  • Monthly competitions include both digital (projected) images and print images. Please clarify category on entry
  • Judging occurs at the intermediate and advanced skill levels. All new members are automatically entered as intermediate. Members must have won at the intermediate skill level in order to submit images at the advanced level.
  • Twice a year the club holds theme competitions; both projected images and print images may be submitted in one of the two following categories:
Judging: All competition submissions are judged by the following criteria:
Composition 10 points
Visual Impression
(the visceral feeling that the image evokes)
10 points
Technical Expertise
(the overall quality of an image in terms of:
  • correct exposure
  • sharp focus
  • other relevant technical factors)
  5 points
Difficulty in obtaining an image will not be assessed as it may not be possible to determine without information from the photographer.

The top five scoring images in each category on competition nights will be entered in the year-end competition.

Submission Guidelines:
Digital (or Projected) Images Print Images
  1. Please send digital images in .jpg format to ensure they will be readable.
  2. Resize images to fit maximum dimensions of 1024 pixels wide x 768 pixels high. (If the image approximates a square, make the longest edge 768 pixels).
  3. If you desire, sharpen the image. Go to Filters -> Sharpen -> Unsharp mask.
  4. Select Image Mode “Convert to Profile” and under “Destination Space” select “sRGBIEC61966-2.1” from the pop-up list. Click OK.
  5. Save the image using the name you wish to use as the competition title for your image.
  6. Send images as EMAIL ATTACHMENTS to Kevin Pratt at:
  7. Attach all images to one email unless you are using a dial-up connection.  In that case, you will probably want to email  the images one at a time.
  8. Please indicate Club Camera Digital Competition in the Subject part of the message.
  9. In the message itself include or indicate:
    • Entrant name and image titles
    • Skill level (intermediate or advanced)
    • Category (Digital Realism or Digital Art)
Print entries must conform to the following specifications:
  1. The back upper left hand corner must indicate (in this order):
    • Image Title
    • Entrant's name
    • Image number (corresponding to the number on the entry form)
  2. Print and mount requirements:
    • Minimum print size is 5" x 5"
    • Maximum print size is 16" x 20" including mount and mat
    • All prints must be mounted and unframed
    • Mounted prints may also be matted
    • No entrant names or signatures on the front of the submission
NOTE. B&W and color images are judged in the same category and by the same criteria.
