Aperture is the brainchild of member Benjamin Hight who researched camera clubs the world over. He realized that one thing the others had--and that Club Camera lacked--was a newsletter.

Here is the premier edition which features great how-to articles, “Matting your own prints” by Tandika Star and “Geotagging” by Steve Baker.

We invite you to read Benjamin's article on the right and then click the title link below to open the newsletter.

Actually, the name Aperture is currently in use--most notably as the title of the NY Aperture Foundation's photography magazine. Help name the club's newsletter by contacting Benjamin with suggestions!

Aperture, Club Camera Tucson's Newsletter, Debuts!

by Benjamin Hight, Aperture editor

We are happy to announce that a link to the first issue of the newsletter is now available online. The newsletter, currently called Aperture, will contain articles touching on a variety of relevant themes:

• Club competitions that display the considerable creativity and ability of our members

• Members who are doing the essential jobs that keep a club going, those roles in the club that are so important that we consider them to be the “gears” that make the club work

• Longtime members who have become sources of inspiration

• New members, with introductory bios and an identifying photo

• Illustrated how-to articles about tasks of interest to members. This month's two articles are great examples

• Upcoming field trips

Allen Gerzoff's winning photo, 50-50

• Perhaps in the future, a classified section for members seeking to find new homes, for underused equipment, or to find items they want to buy

• Trips and vacations of significance to members. Their journal entry-type notes could accompany favorite trip photos. Technical notes may be included as well as the motivation behind taking those photos

• Anything of interest to members that they want to share with fellow members like visits to other clubs, their delight with that newly acquired 200-500mm telephoto lens, or a new way to get just the right look to a photo, etc.

• A “Letters to the editor’ feature
Since Aperture is a work in progress, we expect that the kinds of articles will continue to evolve. Please let the editor know of your interests, disappointments, or other features you would like. Contact Benjamin Hight, preferably by phone (check the member list for home and cell numbers), or email.
